The very first episode. As such, there are certain things it needs to accomplish. Even a completely plotless series (and IZ has varying levels of plot that dip to ‘negative continuity’ levels) generally starts with a coherent story episode that sets everything up. A good first episode
- Demonstrates who the main cast is- tells us who to care about.
- Shows us why we should care and who these people are. On the INSIDE.
- Gets the main idea of the entire series across.
- Ideally does not suck compared to the rest of the series.
The Nightmare Begins does all that.
